If I Was In Charge Of Feltonville..

If was in charge of my neighborhood there are a few things I would do.

  • First, I would put more cops in the neighborhood to stop so many robberies, and assaults happening.
  • Secondly, I would get the gang bangers off the streets especially near the children of the neighborhood. Like the playground, school-grounds, and the recreational center.
  • Thirdly, Everyone in Feltonville will have there houses inspected for smoke detectors, and for the people that don't have at least 1 in every important room, I would provide them.

Feltonville News

Delicias Criollas Colombians Bakery
This bakery is walking distance from my house. I stopped in there before to try there flan and I really liked it. Believe it or not, this is the only small bakery in the Feltonville area.

Students Made Up Story That Woman Pointed Gun At Them
I was near this incident when I noticed the news truck go by Ell Street. Ella Street is literally around the corner from me. And it's crazy how children lie about things like this. Especially something so serious. But what can I say, kids will be kids.

Mother And Three Children Passed In Fire
In my last year of middle school, I went to Feltonville School Of Arts And Sciences. Going to school I had a best friend, his name was Jamar Nobles. Jamar, his mother, and his two younger sisters passed away in a house fire January 13th, 2011. I was heartbroken and didn't know how to handle it. I went to start a memorial with the counselor for him and we planted a rose in his memory.

Pregnant Woman Stabbed
This is an ungodly thing to even happen. Especially in my neighborhood. I can believe that a man would even stab a woman with a child. The fact that the guy got away with it, is the part that bothers me the most. Obviously he wont be going back to her house because she was legally armed with a gun, and wasn't afraid of shooting it.

Disciplinary Action For Teachers
I heard so much about this in the beginning of the year that I was laughing so hard. First the teacher that the news interviewed was my 6th grade teacher when I was enrolled in FSAS. Secondly, I was laughing because how could you try to put the teachers of disciplinary action if you was keeping it away from all of the students and there parents. Ridiculous.

Negatives Of Feltonville

The negatives of Feltonville would be:

There's a lot of drug use. Just by walking through an alley-way you can smell dutches and sometimes marijuana.

Even though the little area I'm in exactly is the safest, outside of my area shows a lot of robbery, burglary, and assaults.

The schools I use to know such as "Feltonville School" and "Feltonville-Horn School" has gotten shut down and I think that is bad for the community.

Positives Of Feltonville

The positives things about my neighborhood is:

Feltonville is pretty safe neighborhood.

In the Feltonville area there are a lot of schools nearby: elementary schools, middles schools, even high schools.

The part of the neighborhood I live in is cool, calm, and collected. No very big crimes.

When Did Feltonville Begin?

Feltonville began in 1890. It used to be known as Wyoming Valley or Wyoming Villa. In 1927, the Wyoming Branch Free Library was created as the last of the free libraries branches October 29. 1930. Also, the City of Philadelphia made sure to set aside a corner for the recreational center.
